The New Zealand Railways Corporation (NZRC) is a statutory corporation that owns around 18,000 hectares of railway land.  It was established to support KiwiRail by providing a long term lease of its railway land. This means KiwiRail can obtain the commercial benefit of the land and support the Crown’s investment in rail operations as a whole.
