If you want to transfer or dispute the safety-camera notice
Before the payment is due, you can:
Local council — parking ticket
Use the local council's website to either:
- pay the parking fine
- challenge it — often called an ‘appeal’ or ‘dispute’.

When and how to challenge a private parking ticket
To challenge a fine, contact the owner of the private parking lot.
If that does not work — apply to the Disputes Tribunal
There’s a fee to apply, which is listed in the claim form.
If you do not pay on time

If you do not pay by the due date, the fee will automatically move to the courts.
You’ll need to pay both:
- court costs
- the original fine — known as a ‘Notice of Fine’.
