Support someone in prison
If you know someone in prison, you can support them by visiting, calling or writing to them.
Visit someone in prison
The person in prison needs to arrange to send a visitor application form to you. The forms are not available online.
Once you send in the form, security checks are done before you’re approved as a visitor.
The application process also applies to all children under 18.

Send mail and other items
You can send letters to people in prison. You may be able to send other items, such as clothing or books — but each prison has its own rules. Contact the prison directly to check if other items can be sent.
You can send an email that will be passed on to the prisoner. As prisoners do not have access to computers, they can only write back by post.
