The Agency’s vision is fewer cancers, better survival, equity for all.

The role of Te Aho o Te Kahu is to provide the New Zealand Government with cancer-related policy advice, as well as to provide national leadership to ensure our cancer services provide high quality and consistent cancer diagnosis and treatment to those affected by cancer, as well as strengthening our approach to cancer prevention and early detection.

Te Aho o Te Kahu is equity-led, whānau-centred, knowledge-based and outcomes-focused and is committed to improving outcomes for people affected by cancer.

The te reo Māori name means ‘the central thread (aho) of the cloak (kahu)’ and represents the role the Agency plays in leading and uniting all the organisations, communities and people across the cancer continuum.
